This Is How Stupid They Think You Are

Ok, if you're not a republican, this doesn't apply to you directly, but pay attention anyway. Samantha Bee at the Daily Show shows the card that's being played by the republican party. The first 1:42 minutes are what I want to share with you.

It's about the new buzzword, Rebranding. Listen to republican strategist Kellyanne Conway. Here's the transcript:
Kellyanne Conway: The policies of the republican party are less the issue than the image. ... republicans need for people to even stop and notice the product, and not say ick, and keep walking.

Samantha Bee: So it's not the economy or the war, it's the packaging?

KC: The packaging of the republican party currently screams to the average consumer, "Don't touch this. Stand Back."

SB: It's like the republican party is a shit sandwich. How do you get Americans to eat the sandwich?

KC: You dip it in chocolate and say it has no calories.

SB: Turns out, there's a word for that.

It's called Rebranding.

Basically the republican party thinks you are so stupid and in lockstep with them that you will eat the chocolate covered shit sandwich and marvel at how it helps you lose weight because it's calorie free. You then take their buzzwords and talking points and help spread their message to other stupid sheeple.

The problem is, this works. Because the average American is too lazy and ignorant to consider the shit they are eating. They just shovel it in. As long as they get to watch Survivor and Lost, they're happy.

The republican party isn't going to look deep into their hearts and try to become better. god forbid! No, they are right and you are wrong. But to garner your vote and brainwash you a bit more, they will change their image, dumb down their message more, make the talking points simpler, and spoon feed you their shit, sound bite by sound bite. If you eat it, you deserve the dysentery you'll inevitably get.

So, don't just take the talking points and run with them to the water cooler to spread the shit. You sound like the stupid parrot that you've let yourself become. It's time to wake up and stop being led by the nose, to think for yourself, to learn the issues and reevaluate your beliefs. To embrace intelligence, education and common sense. Imagine how great America could be again if we all tried just a little harder to not be such ignorant sheep.

Hey, you non-republicans. You're not off the hook either. Sure, Obama was elected instead of the mccain/palin ticket of vapid religious stupidity. That doesn't mean we can all relax. Obama has already made some strange decisions that warrant keeping a close eye on future choices. If he does start trying to spoon feed us chocolate covered shit, we have to be ready to call him on it. Ok?

The buzzwords of the day: education, common sense, intelligence, observation, critical thinking.

  1. Is Kellyanne Conway a real Republican strategist? If yes, god bless Republican.

Since there is probably no god, rebranding probably wont help!

  2. Part of the rebranding definition on Wikipedia states "... in an attempt to distance itself from certain negative connotations of the previous branding, or to move the brand upmarket." Notice it says 'distance itself' not correcting or eliminating the negative connotation. This is exactly what the rethugs have in mind...distance.

As soon as the election was over and idiot Palin was shipped back to the icy wilderness to shoot wolves the rethugs trotted out Bobby Jindal from Louisiana as their up and coming...well, until it was discovered that he had conducted exorcisms after his conversion to Roman catholicism. Hahaha. I think they're going to have a hard time finding someone who holds their shared 'values' who isn't some kind of religious wacko, therein lies their challenge, to find a palatable puppet with broad base appeal. Yeah, good luck with that.

But it does seems to be their plan to push their more fringe elements to the outer circle and craft a personality out of moderation. But they'll still run into the same problem...pandering to their far-right base, which they can not afford to piss off.

Get the popcorn..this should be fun!

  4. If by fun, you mean excruciatingly painful and damaging to America and our civil rights, ok. LOL :P

Gah I hate these sheep-herders bent on turning America into a theocratic police state!

Don't they vet these morons? Sheesh.

  5. Neece, you'll get no argument from me...the religious right are a danger to a free America and I don't underestimate their penchant for subterfuge for one minute. They are a devious bunch.

But I have found it hilarious to watch them flop around like a fish on hot sand as they try to 'rebrand' a good 'ol boys club without losing the good 'ol boys themselves. I do find an almost perverse glee in watching arrogant hate-mongers duke it out with each inside their own party. The same party that has self-identified as the party of 'god'. The ridiculousness factor is not lost on me and my sarcasm is just a wink and a nod to my fellow freedom fighters. ;)
